Phishing

Phishing  is a way of attempting to acquire information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an email or text message such as a bank or credit card company.

They appear legitimate even displaying the company logo, and will sometimes go to great links to appear so by even setting up a fake 800 number, answered by a real person.

The emails or text usually ask you to enter your name, social security number, user, name and password or credit card number for verification to keep your account from being closed.

All of these are attempts to steal your personal information.  Banks and other credit issuers never send these types of emails.  If you ever have questions about emails you think came from your bank do not call the number on the email.

Call the phone number on the back of your card or the phone number on your bank or credit card statement for and report the email to your bank.
